Efficient Forest Breeding
he broad goal of the Forest Ecology, Forest Molecular Breeding, and Economics of Forests research teams is to increase the productivity and resiliency of forests as the global climate changes. The Forest Ecology team seeks to understand how trees and forest ecosystems function and to identify and develop best management practices that will help forests adapt to global climate change. The Forest Molecular Breeding team uses cutting-edge genetic techniques to develop new tree varieties that are better suited to a changing environment. The Economics of Forest’s team uses economic principles to assess the value of forests and develop policies that promote the sustainable management of forests.
