Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) is a National Key University with a strong background in life science and agriculture that is administered by the Ministry of Education, China. In other words, we are one of China’s top-tier research universities. HZAU has an 1100-acre campus with 18 colleges and 26,813 students. Approximately half of our students are graduate students. HZAU has more than 2600 faculty members, including 312 professors, 4 academicians of the Chinese Academies of Sciences and Engineering, 2 academicians of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World, and 1 foreign associate of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.
The College of Horticulture and Forestry Science is composed of the departments of Pomology, Olericulture, Tea Science, Protected Horticulture, Ornamental Horticulture, Forestry Sciences, and Landscape Architecture and is highly ranked by the Ministry of Education, and by the National Development and Reform Commission. We were ranked first in the third national discipline evaluation. Moreover, in 2017, the Center for World University Rankings classified the College of Horticulture and Forestry Science as a First International Horticulture Discipline. We are in the process of building an international horticulture institute and as part of this process, we are recruiting more international faculty to serve as principal investigators. College of Horticulture and Forestry Sciences, Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) seeks candidates for multiple positions as mentioned below.
Category A: Nobel Laureate in the field of Plant Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Bioinformatics, or comprehensive and interdisciplinary areas.
Category B: Academicians of the National Academy of Sciences (USA) and European Academy of Sciences, internationally leading scholars and scientists who serve in the world’s prestigious universities and scientific research institutes, or those who are equivalent to the above-mentioned top scholars.
Category C: Winners of National and International Talent Programs, Overseas Famous Teachers, Grantees of National or International Funding, Professors of overseas prestigious universities, or those who are equivalent to the above-mentioned leading scholars.
Category D: Grantees of National or International Funding, Winners of Key Talent Programs, Associate Professors from overseas prestigious universities, or those who are equivalent to the above-mentioned prominent scholars.
Category E: Those who are selected by Key Talent Programs, Assistant Professors of overseas prestigious universities, or those who are equivalent to the above-mentioned top-notch scholars.
Category F: Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree, and hold a professional position as Associate Professor or those who are equivalent to professor level after being reviewed and evaluated by peer experts. The applicants should also be grantees of projects as PI, obtained scientific research achievement awards at the national or international level, or obtained teaching achievement awards at the national or international level. The applicants are required to have published more than 6 professional academic papers in international or national core publications or at international conferences as the first author or as the only corresponding author of his/her own in the past 5 years, among which at least 2 papers have been published in authoritative journals or 1 paper in top journals at home and abroad. The number of papers can decrease appropriately for those who have had outstanding achievements in teaching and research or who are the most-needed professional talents.
Category G:
- Applicants should possess Ph.D. degrees, and hold a professional position as Assistant Professor. Applicants should also be grantees of projects as PI. Applicants are required to have published more than 5 professional academic papers in international or national-level core publications or at international conferences as the first author in the past 5 years, among which at least 1 paper has been published in authoritative journals at home and abroad.
- Applicants should possess Ph.D. degrees in foreign prestigious universities or institutions or have a minimum of 2 years of experience in undertaking post-doctoral research overseas. After being reviewed and evaluated by peer experts, applicants should reach the Associate Professor level. Applicants are required to have more than 4 professional academic papers published in international and national-level core publications or at international conferences as the first author in recent 3 years, among which at least 1 paper has been published in the top journals and 1 in the authoritative journals. Applicants with a grant of 1 project will be required to have more than 3 professional academic papers published in international and national-level core publications or at international conferences as the first author in recent 3 years, among which at least 1 paper has been published in the authoritative journals. The number of papers can decrease appropriately for those who have had outstanding achievements in teaching and research or who are the most-needed professional talents.
Category H: Applicants should possess Ph.D. degrees from foreign prestigious universities or institutions. Young graduates can apply for Postdoctoral Positions. Applicants are required to have more than 2 professional academic papers published in international publications or at international conferences as the first author in the past 3 years, among which at least 1 paper has been published in the top journals or authoritative journals. The number of papers can decrease appropriately for those who have had outstanding achievements in teaching and research or who are the most-needed professional talents.
Category K (adjunct professorship): Nobel Laureate and Academicians of the National Academy of Sciences (USA) and European Academy of Sciences, internationally leading scholars and scientists who serve in the world’s prestigious universities and scientific research institutes, Winners of International Talents Programs, Overseas Famous Teachers, Professors of overseas prestigious universities, Associate Professors from overseas prestigious universities, or those who are equivalent to the above-mentioned prominent scholars for adjunct professorship (part-time) in specific fields.
Salaries/Benefits
- Full-time teachers applying for the above categories will be employed according to the employment system, and they will enjoy the annual salary system. The university will provide the corresponding annual salary and research startup funds. The specific requirements and welfare package are negotiable depending on individual qualifications. - Assist the PIs to apply for 2-5 million RMB start-up funds, depending on the applicants’ qualifications in accordance with the University’s policies of bringing in top talents.
- All the faculty members will be and must be independent researchers. Research collaboration among members is encouraged. The college will be administrated by all the academic members by international standards.
- The academic members at the college will be assessed by a peer review system with an emphasis on intellectual contributions rather than solely by publications.
- The college will provide temporary housing during the candidate’s work time at the University for Category G (adjunct professorship) position. Part-time professors may have research assistants and lab space depending on the need by mutual agreement.
