I obtained my bachelor degree from Lanzhou University followed by my graduate study in Tsinghua University. During that, I spent one year in Professor Xuemei Chen’s lab at University of California, Riverside as a visiting student. After obtaining PhD from Tsinghua, I joined Professor Sir David Baulcombe’s group at University of Cambridge as a postdoctoral researcher. During my time in David’s lab, I had been studying tomato antiviral silencing and epigenetics, and identified critical genes involved in tomato viral defense and mechanisms of transposon control. After finishing my postdoc, I started my own lab in Huazhong Agricultural University. My lab is focusing on tomato-virus interaction and roles of epigenetics in tomato growth and development. Using genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry and genomics, we are aiming to address how tomato regulates the antiviral defense precisely and how DNA methylation regulates tomato growth and development.
