Jie Ye, Ph.D., associate professor. The focus of research in our laboratory is molecular and genetic analysis of fruit quality and yield. We are investigating the regulation of quality and yield using tomato as a model system. Current research includes: 1) positional cloning of loci via forward genetic approach (genome-wide association analysis and linkage mapping) and identify the key genes related to quality/yield regulation by CRISPR methods; 2) revealing the genetic basis of ionomic variation in tomato, aiming to enhance the accumulation of essential micronutrients and reduce the concentrations of potentially toxic elements, contributing to human health and agricultural green development; 3) exploring the mechanisms underlying grafting compatibility and epigenetics in rootstock-scion interaction based on innovative species of eggplant tree (Solanum xhybrida).
