Post-harvest biology and technology is devoted exclusively to carry out biological and technological research in the areas of post-harvest storage, treatment, quality evaluation, packaging, handling and distribution of agronomic and horticultural crops, and the post-harvest treatment of fresh product as affecting the quality of processed product will be included. These disciplines include ecology, entomology, plant physiology, plant pathology, molecular biology, chemistry, engineering, technology and economics.
Developed and facilitated adoption of technologies that are alternatives to synthetic fungicides to control postharvest decay of horticultural products. now in commercial use in China, including: 1) introduced and verified antagonistic microbe to control postharvest diseases of horticultural products; 2) Physical control, such as controlled atmosphere for horticultural products to control decay; 3) Development of edible film.
