College of Horticulture and Forestry Sciences, Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) seeks candidates for multiple positions as full-time professors, associate professors, and research fellows in the following fields: Horticulture, Fruit Sciences, Vegetable Sciences, Landscape Gardening, Forestry Sciences, Tea Sciences, Landscape Architecture, Biology and Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Bioinformatics, or comprehensive and interdisciplinary areas. We are interested in experienced talent from overseas with robust research experience, a good publication record in their fields, and promising scientific potential. For these positions, candidates are assumed to do both teaching and research.
HZAU is a National Key University with a history of 120 years. It is a leading agriculture university in China, located in the Wuhan City of Hubei Province. It consists of 18 colleges and departments and has a range of world-class education curricula and scientific research programs, mainly agricultural and biological sciences. There are more than 3000 faculty members, of whom there are 527 professors, one member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, three members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, one member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, two academicians of the Third World Academy of Sciences, and one academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences.
The College of Horticulture and Forestry of Huazhong Agricultural University was established in February 2002 by merging the former Department of Horticulture and the Department of Forestry. The college has a total of 183 faculty members. There are 156 full-time teachers (two of whom are foreign nationals), 63 professors, and 66 associate professors, including one academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. There are 57 postdoctoral fellows in the college. The college’s history can be traced to a branch of the Hubei Province Department of Agricultural Sciences in 1904 and the Hubei Provincial Agricultural College’s Department of Horticulture in 1940. The beautiful campus is one of the largest in China (4.9 km2), surrounded by natural lakes. The campus is also neighbouring many major universities and research institutes, shopping centers, excellent schools, and kindergarten, making it an ideal place for education, scientific research, and living.
Depending on the candidates’ qualifications and experience, the college will provide each candidate with 100,000-5,000,000 RMB as start-fund and settling-in allowance, research assistants and lab space, offer an on-campus apartment of 100-150 m2, and job for spouse and school/kindergarten for children.
The college also invites applications for adjunct professorship (part-time) by distinguished scientists in specific fields. The college will provide temporary housing during the candidate’s work time at the University. Part-time professors may have research assistants and lab space depending on the need by mutual agreement.
